25 August 2008 - Monte-Carlo - The six meeting quest to claim the $1 Million Jackpot of the ÅF Golden League reaches its penultimate fixture in Zürich, Switzerland on Friday 29 August, and only two athletes remain in the hunt for the perfect series of six victories which is required to at least share the prize.

24 August 24 2008 - Beijing, China - Similar height, similar weight, same country. And now, 28 years later, Kenenisa Bekele celebrates the 5000/10,000m double that crowned the glorious career of Miruts Yifter. No Ethiopian – not even Haile Gebrselassie – managed it in between.



Women's High Jump - FINAL
Now for a surprise that was a very big one. Who would have thought that Tia Hellebaut was going to become the last track gold medallist of the Beijing Olympic Games (the only other medal in Athletics still to be awarded is that in the men’s marathon)? Who would have thought that Tia Hellebaut was going to become the first ever Belgian woman to win an Olympic title in Athletics and the first Belgian of either sex to win gold at the Olympics since 1964!

Bolt – “I am not tired…I want to have fun and perform well for the crowd” in Zürich - ÅF Golden League

27 August 2008 - Zürich, Switzerland - Usain Bolt, the Jamaican who dominated the sprints on the super-fast track of the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Bejing winning three Olympic gold medals and setting fabulous World records in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, will be in the spotlight again on Friday evening (29 August) at the Weltklasse Zürich meeting in the Letzigrung Stadium where the ÅF Golden League 2008 resumes after the Olympic Games.



Hellebaut-Vlasic rematch among highlights on the field in Zurich – ÅF Golden League

26 August 2008 – Among the countless Beijing performances that dazzled the world over 10 sensational days of Olympic athletics was Tia Hellebaut’s shock defeat of World champion Blanka Vlasic in the women’s High Jump. The pair will meet again on Friday when the ÅF Golden League resumes at Zurich’s Weltklasse, just one of several encore performances that will light up the Letzigrund stadium infield.
